I apologize in advance if this has been asked and answered before. I could not find anything in my searches.
I would like to install DSL on an old machine. In this case, it is a Fujitsu Stylistic LT tablet (P1-233/64MB/4GB). I have an external floppy drive, but no CDROM. The machine has a USB port, but I don't believe it can boot from it. I was hoping to install DSL via boot floppy and memory stick. Unfortunately, I found one sentence on the DSL website that seems to indicate that USB installs are not possible.
I would like to know if there is any way of doing a USB based install.

Not from the default install tools. The problem is the installer does not load the USB from the kernel itself. It is loaded as a module which is not loaded till after the installer is going. Only thought is from a boot disk is load a basic kernel with USB in the kernel then try to point it the installer tool.
Now, DSL offers a USB boot floppy to boot the USB drive on old PCs. If I understand you correctly, I should be able to use the boot floppy and point it, if necessary, to the installer on the USB memory stick.

Yes that is possible. Just make sure the boot floppy uses the same kernel the installer is going to use. This way if it loads addtional modules then all are compiled at the same version.
I copied the CD files to a USB stick and used the usb boot floppy to boot the system. It found the USB drive and booted from it. I was then able to follow the installation instructions (more or less) to get the system installed.
Once I got past a few quirks I was up and running.
Now the fun of installing system specific drivers begins! Touch screen, sound, on-screen keyboard...

Wondering how you're coming along with your plan to get your Stylistic LT working with touch screen, etc., under DSL (or other Linux.) I have one as well, and would be quite interested in benefitting from your experience, if possible.
