Installing to USB drive
I am trying to install Linux Slackware 9.0 to my PC, on a USB hard Drive. (I don't want to take the chance of re-partitioning my main drive). I have no objection to having to noot from a floppy after set-up, if necessary.
When my machine first boots up, using the bare.i disk, ir recognizes my USB drive, and reports it as hdc, correctly id'in it as a Toshiba 10 gig drive. However, when I insert disks 2 and 3, I see messages that it is disabling or unregistering the USB addresses, and hen I try to FDISK or CFDISK, I do not see hdc.
I read some threads on other forums on how to change some files using make menuconfig, mkinitrd, etc. but I don't have Linux installed on any machine, so I can't get in to make the changes.
Help?????
(If you can't tell yet, I am VERY new to Linux)
Thanx,
