SCLUB is a really easy to use alternative to traditional music tracker software for DOS (and a W95/98 version) but "flows" more like a modern digital audio workstation. It also can be used to convert MIDI to MOD, to which most of what little converters that I have been able to find that...

Should you make the switch to Gnome 3?

For some of you out there, you won't even be using a graphical interface. For others, you may have to think more about this decision.

Some distributions will include it as a prominent feature of their upcoming releases (Fedora 14, Mageia), but a lot of people are really just waiting for real world bug fixing before giving 3.2(?) a serious try.

Random song constrained by keyword on MPC

Save it as a script, perhaps even as an alias:

Code:
mpc play `shuf -e $(mpc playlist -f "[(%position%) %artist% %title% %file%]" |egrep $1 | grep -Eo "\(.*\)"| sed 's:).*::g' | sed 's:(::g') -n 1`
Then type at some terminal:

mpcr[andom] <artist/keyword>

(or however you chose to name/alias it)

And mpc will play a random song from the pool resulting from the keyword filter.
