Color the shell prompt

Posted 02-23-2006 at 08:28 PM by w322

add to ~/.bashrc: export PS1="\e[32m\u@\H[\W]>\e[0m"
This example makes the prompt green (32).

Some other colors (this is not all of them):

31=red
34=blue
35=purple
30=black

10 Things I hate about LQ.org

Posted 02-23-2006 at 01:29 PM by simcox1

1. Posts that begin with 'eek'
2. Posts that end with 'plz help'
3. Any reference to Jesus or similar in a signature
4. Newbies
5. The text of posts appearing when hovering a link

7. People who know more than me
8. Particularly BSD people, who seem to view me with the same rather snotty attitude that I view Windows users
9. KDE (not specifically LQ related I know)
10.Podcasts that last an hour or more....
