Difference between /proc files and /dev files

Hi all,

I want to know that what is the difference between /proc files and /dev files, since both are used for interfacing between user space and kernel space for accessing the hardware.

Required Reading: Detect and Clean a hacked server (like, not)

I wonder what would happen (think newbie) if I would trust information from one source? Take for instance Detect and Clean a hacked server T0rnkit Tutorial which says I can completely recover a compromised and rootkitted box *just by deleting and installing some tools*. Of course *you* know that's completely wrong (and the comments say that as well) because you've read more docs (or had the experience of having to mop up after a breach). But how about someone who doesn't see the comments? Someone...

Dual boot of Win XP home and rh9.0

After the installation of linux, bootloader was working fine. When I booted into the Win XP home, it ran the system restore. I did go with the system restore. N now I find that the linux grub does not start. It boots into the windows by default. I did not opt to store the boot file onto the floppy. Im stuck... What could be done? May I have immediate assistance?
