bb to desktop.
Took the machine my brother gave me and let it be my desktop. The old desktop was an old p4 that I bought a limping mb for 2 bucks. Probably back it up and wipe the drive. Maybe turn it into a game machine.
Found the chips I needed to test my robotics stuff. Worked!
Several proof of concept items:
1. Built tele-prompter add-on for my computer for about 10 dollars. Used a bash script to control text flow. Works.
2. Turned an old dell gx1 (p2) ubuntu and apache into a web based home automation server. Wired the parallel port interface. Added something to control. Wrote http and cgi scripts. Works.
3. Took an old p4 with Debian then installed xrdp so it could be a server for thin clients that supported the rdp protocol. (cheap network). Works
4. Bought an old time projector for 5 bucks. Took the ac motor and removed the copper wiring for the stator coils for my future homemade generator. Wound the stator coils, but I need to finish building it. Now I am going to try to take the lens and make a vga projector. It will be a miracle if I can get that to work.
5. Bought some battery powered xmas lights to interface with the parallel port on an old p1 for the xmas tree. Still need to get some resistors and solder everything up.
