Urgent Message for the Linux Community!

Posted 05-09-2023 at 12:12 AM by des_a

I have an urgent message for the Linux community, and for others too! Stop using google chrome for a browser now! They have cut off completely ANY HTTP sites, in favor of HTTPS sites! Just stopped working today! Join with me and show your complete disaproval and do NOT use it anymore! Use firefox instead, or even edge is better, if you are able to use windows for some reason. I get what they are trying to do, but this is not the way to do it! First make setting up a server easier, long before you continue down this path. It's almost nothing to setup HTTP, while HTTPS is really hard. At least the last time I tried to set it up!

I was using it, in my attempts to use Linux more, I'd needed it to download the files for the laptop and stuff. Until they bring HTTP back, no use chrome! Anyway, as I was saying, I am transitioning to more heavy linux use, not that windows will go away for now though.

With Let's Encrypt, setting up https is a no-brainer. Has been since ~2017 or so.
