    Depression

Failure is the opportunity to try again. and again until it's right. Nobody is going to succeed the first time on everything. Hobbies also help to give a sense of accomplishment... as long as they don't consume normal and healthy life advancement.

My new laptop? Maybe? Considering it.

you told me you had ADHD.Maybee the best thing for you is hard work or travel around or both.Hard work for reel men not weaklings.Since you like computers I guess that is the future for you.High school is terrible if you are different.I also dropped out and moved from home when I was 17 fixed my grade anyhow.studied a little bit at the university.Worked al little bit here and there hitch hiking etc.Lumberjack or fisherman I think is well payed in your country. Please do not start with amphetamine since this is not unusual for people with your diagnosis. You are a smart guy because you want a computer with both a big screen and battery time.Samsung 10 inch I use myself but I do not know the new models. It is better beeing a nerd listening to birds singing than beeing a nerd with bad health and no sunburn. What is your hardware problem is it not possible to fix it?Good luck mate.

    Java programming.

Java = software patent encumbered. (for all practical purposes, unless your a good friend of Larry Ellison.)

I have lived on the Texas coast for a bit of time, and I have yet to hear of Oklahoma having a real hurricane that made it that far.

    Java programming.

    Quote:
What is to not like about that?
Well, about the cross-platform thing...C/C++ can be cross-platform as well. The only main difference with Java is that you don't need to recompile your code for each OS/platform, which is convenient, but of course there's the JVM overhead which affects both load time and runtime speed.

Another thing is that AFAIK pointer arithmetic isn't really taught in Java (I take it memory management/"garbage collection" is done automatically by the JVM? ).

I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to transition to something like C++ from Java, though, seeing as how Java is totally object-oriented (I believe even basic data types, e.g. int, char, float, etc. are considered objects with members). Don't quote me on that, though, as I've never programmed in Java myself.

Either way, I think it's cool that you're learning a programming language at all...are you learning online, or are you planning on taking courses in school? (You had mentioned this in that ancient tome-of-a-thread called "What are you doing now?". )

If only computers had service contracts. Then that $750 would look like $50 + $50 per month for 2 years or pay a $500 cancellation fee.

+1. Feels like you're just stuck there even though you know you should go do something.

I've actually started to hate Facebook (and other social networking sites) lately because everyone seems so self-absorbed into their own profiles and lives and stuff. It makes me feel lonelier because I'm watching everyone live their lives and I'm just sitting there doing nothing. The nostalgia of my history makes it worse. Furthermore, I have a hard time actually updating my status since I just don't know what to say. No one ever comments on my stuff anyway. I only have 47 friends on Facebook (and like 5 is family, and ~25 are 1000+ miles away) and it seems like everyone else has hundreds. Yeah, so, needless to say I've kinda given up on Facebook recently.

Sorry, leopard. Only one last digression. Changed photo again to a 2011 me, instead of the 1963 version.

OK, anything for you. I'll put in in my Profile. It's from a 8x10 taken in 1963. Not a perfect photo of a photo, but it will have to do.
