I am new to linux and I have decided to try out Vector. Is there anything that I should have a heads up about. How is Vector?

Is is easy to use?

Thanks.

Sure, it is quite easy to install and use. Nice online community to help you out as well.

I recommend Vector for several reasons, but I think that you will be pleased with it since some essential stuff (like java, flash, codecs) are installed, configured, and work out of the box.

Do join the forum at http://www.vectorlinux.com/forum2/ since you will get a lot more help there than you would here.

Since most problems on Linux tend not to be distro specific, I would tend to disagree with that. As would many of the 281,379 other members.

In what way would you say that you would "get more help" there?

There are many more users who visit that forum than there are here, in the Vector Linux section. Even if we are to assume that most problems are not distro specific, people who have Vector Linux problems, will post to this sub-forum for help (vs. other forums) but if there are not that many users in this sub-forum, then they will have to wait a while to get an answer or they will not find any answer whatsoever. If they are not a newbie, then they might find other avenues for help, such as the "General Linux" sub-forum, but I assume that a small percentage of people will do that.

I do agree. I am a newbie myself and I wanted to get a more direct answer so I thought that I would check this forum out first. But in general, I usually look around to see if I can find an answer that someone else asked.

But thanks for the input.

And I will also check out the vector linux forum.

Thanks again.

Yeah, the "get MORE help" is not really correct.
But I would not pass up using all available resources.
Linuxquestions, distribution specific forums (usenet if needed), and Google.

Ok well, I like Vector, Its simple to use and I like the basic features of it. I'm still learning how to work with linux, which is a good thing. The other sites help a lot and especially this site. Thanks for all of your help.
