Yahoo IM, AOL IM and a few other packages, plus Debian and Ubuntu question

I would like to have these things set up in Ubuntu but I am more familiar with using them in Mandrake and other RPM based distros.

Yahoo Instant Messanger, AOL Instant Messanger, Real Player Gold and Wolfstein Enemy Territory. Also I would like to have a working DVD player, maybe Xine or something. Totem isn't working.

Now Yahoo and AOL have .deb packages, I believe, but I do not know how to get those working with Ubuntu. Real Player is Binary so I should have no problem with that one. Enemy Terroritory I am not sure about but since it is also Binary that should work well to, once I get done posting this I am going to give that one a try. I imagine Xine works to but I will need the right codecs for any DVD player to work, in the right folder.

Now from what I understand is that most Debian Packages will work with Ubuntu. I read how to make sure they don't try installing the same thing Ubuntu already installed. Now are their any good Debian repositories? I have already set up the universal, etc ones in Ubuntu.

And finally. How do I singely install one Debian package in Ubuntu?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: I installed Xine fine but I need to get libdvdcss for encoded DVDs. Where do I get that? It is not in the Synaptic Package Manager.

I could but I like using Yahoo and AIM as well as GAIM. Also it is a good reminder to Yahoo and AIM that Linux users are out there and growing so they need to pay attention to the amount of Downloads and the number of people who use there programs and or services that will look other places if they have to. Money wise that is not a smart move on their part. It is the same reason I will buy games that are Linux compatible when I can afford to. Doom 3, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, etc.

Also with the above post. I got Enemey Territory and Real Player working perfectly, I didn't think there would be a problem with them.

So, out of your original post topic, is there anything that you are still lacking?

Sorry it took so long posting this, I just got back home. Back on the topic I am still missing Yahoo and AIM.

Well, LOL, that was very, very easy. I installed Yahoo IM and I am getting ready to install AIM.

EDIT: For those who don't know. All you do is cd into the directory yahoo im is in, or aim, or what ever .deb package you want to install, and type this: sudo dpkg -i and then the package name. If it can't install because of a missing package just go to the synaptic package manager and look for it there.
