xorg.conf

hi everyone!

i received two days ago the ubuntu installation disks and started workin!
installation was fine but when i booted the only resolutions available were 800*600 and 760*400 or something..i can't remember, anyway how can i get resolutions like 1024*768 or 1280*1024??

i've got a 9800Pro and my monitor is a 17" max res supported 1360*1024.

i tried editing the xorg.conf file inserting the new resolutions like 1024*768 but i see no changes!

any suggestions?

thanks in advance

good news!

I once again started looking to the xorg.conf file and noticed that the monitor refresh rates where really low and decided to check out the correct values which didn't match with the ones in the xorg.config file!

inserting the correct values solved the problem..now runnin at 1360*1024...ahhh feels good!

and yes, i agree: linux is Better
