Hello, i have this issue with switching virtual screens. I use kdesktop and sometimes i want to use virtual screens, so i use crtl+alt+f1, it works fine, but the problem lies in trying to return to the desktop screen, ctrl+alt+f7. When i try to return there the screen gets messed up, it shows vertical colore lines, and then reloads; the mouse icon shows its reloading and keeps repeatin- colored lines, black screen with mouse, then colored lines. I dont know what is causing this. Is there a config file for virtual screens i can take a look at?

This sounds more like a video driver issue. After I first got my laptop, after starting X windows, the virtual screens would be scrambled. Over time the problem was fixed, either through updates of SuSE or the newer nvidia drivers.

One thing you could try, if your kernel supports framebuffers, is to use a different resolution in your grub or lilo boot parameters.
For example, VGA=791.
