Ubuntu on a HP dv4000 Laptop, or a Toshiba Portege M200?

I am in the market for a used Laptop. I looked at 2 of them today: the HP
dv4000 Pavilion, and a Toshiba Portege M200. Both have adequate Linux processors and RAM. They both run XP, I'll rid them of this. Doe anyone know of issues with either of these Laptops?
Does anyone know if either is really compatible with Ubuntu or Mint Linux?
I need this for an upcoming trip next week; I just want to install and be finished.

The Toshiba is very lightweight, making it a bit more preferrable on the list.

I later looked over the HCL and found a Linux laptop forum to get my answers. I'll have to buy a laptop already configured with Linux to reach my goal, a few weeks wait is worth it. There is a Canadian firm selling Ubuntu laptops, I'm sure there are others as well.
