Ubuntu 9.4 sand clock icon?

Hello, is there a "thinking" sand icon in gnome? For instance when I'm exploring "control center', there is a rolling circle icon, but when I'm starting some applications like firefox, there is not.

There is. But it appears shortly right after you click the firefox icon then switch back to defaults cursor.
