Ubuntu 8.10 startup problem

I installed Ubuntu 8.10 and expected a boot-loader to be installed but is wasn't. Installation partition is say sdb2 and it has been working the first time. Is there a way to boot into this partition from the Live-CD (installation-CD)? - Pity that I can't further investigate it because of this small glitch.

yes of course...boot the install cd ...you will know.

If there is absolutely no boot loader, then use super grub disk or
chroot and grub-install
