Ubuntu Startup

After booting Ubuntu from Grub, it takes a really long time to Configure network blah blah blah... Isn't there a way to time that out sooner? Thanks!

What do you mean by "really long time"? Like time it, and state the number of seconds - what's "really long" to you may just be how long it takes. We'll also need a rundown on your hardware too.

Your reference to "time that out" suggests that you do not have "network blah blah blah" ton configure and you suspect this is why it takes so long... or perhaps you'd like it to skip these steps?

It takes about a whole minute for my network settings to configure ( it never took this long before ). Is it necessary to have this step? If I can skip it without harming anything, is this possible? Thanks for your help.

revolutionary_era: I take it, then, you are not on a network?
... then how about tiurning the nic off in bios?

I've just installed hoary to a laptop meself - network config takes seconds: perhaps if you configure eth0 for static IP? Then it won't try to look for a dhcp server? (Though the link supplie by aysiu is neet too...)

For me, I want to remove the attempt to set the clock. It's the only really slow part.
