I've been upgrading since Ubuntu 5.04 all the way to 7.04 without major issues, I have solved almost every issue by hand 'cos I have a bunch of software and hardware I don't like to reinstall from scratch....
I'll try upgrading to 7.10 of course, but I'll wait a week or two to see what issues other people have with this.
Well i am thinking of upgrading on Thursday,
i have ubuntu 7.0.4 installed, but i use kubuntu desktop,so i am not sure how this is going to work ,do i log into ubuntu to do upgrade or do i stay on kubuntu desktop?

If they kept it like last time, you can upgrade from within your session using the same upgrade tool you use for software updates, I'm sure there will be better instructions at ubuntu's website.
I am upgrading as I type this. I keep a separate /home partition so all of my data is good. I will have to re-install a couple of things, but I would rather do a fresh install than an upgrade.
I tell the installer to format and mount / and not format but mount /home. Easy install.
Fresh install this past weekend. Not impressed. Feisty ran GREAT on this machine. Compiz with Beryl was WONDERFUL! Gutsy final release feels more like an alpha! No easy way to turn of compiz, variable random flickering, random 'lock up' of the desktop, other odd things. I used the GL desktop app to turn off compiz - and have to start it twice to get the window - then I get two. And even then, compiz wants to restart itself randomly. Am I the only one having these kind of problems? I'm running it on a Pavilion dv6045nr laptop. Haven't given up just yet, tho -
(new info)
I just did an upgrade from feisty and things are working much better. I'm almost happy *S*.
