True transparency of gnome panel?


In the screenshot below, how do I get the circled parts of the gnome-panel to either disappear or to look transparent like the rest of the bar?

Are they the hiding buttons? Just get rid of them in panel properties

No they are not the show/hide buttons, they are turned off completely.

Make the panel width 100% of the screen, might help.
