I have to admit I didn't check the md5sum as I never thought it would have anything to do with one side checking the available size of the CD-RW disc? I will go back and check it for sure this time. My PC on the monitor reads 'compact disc rewritable ultra speed' Just going by that I don't believe I could use a DVD-RW. I did try a couple other discs but had the same lack of space issue. Maybe I should install K3b, is it in the Ubuntu Software Center if not where would I find it? Found it.

I used K3b to successfully burned kubuntu 11.04 and it is now in the synaptic package manager. There are a number of items which may or may not be installed. I am at a loss as to which one's to install and which ones to leave alone? Some guidance here would be appreciated a great deal!

Not just sure what you are asking.
There are thousands of packages in the Ubuntu and Debian repos. The cover just about anything you want to do on a computer.
One thing that you should do, it will help you set up your OS and give you guidance on adding to it, is visit this site and follow their set up directions; http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Natty
This is generally for Ubuntu rather than Kubuntu but setting up your repo and so forth is no different. They list a lot of KDE packages in their music section.
Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu and the rest all use the same repos. You can install anything on any of them from those repos.
You can get things elsewhere. Stick to the repos until you get real comfortable. The stuff in the repos may not be exactly the newest but it all works and it is all made to install on your version of Ubuntu.
Synaptic, down in the lower left side has different modes, status is the most handy one but the sections one is a good place to look at to see what is available for what purpose.

Using synaptic can be confusing for the new user. Use the software centre instead, until you get better acquainted with kubuntu. Also as widget suggests, visit ubuntuguide, don't be afraid to read. There is more information on how to be productive in *buntu than on any other GNU/Linux distro out there.

I am guessing that you still have 10.04 installed, and have added your new 11.04 xubuntu disc to the package manager in synaptic?
As far as I know, you cant upgrade from a ubuntu XX.XX to xubuntu YY.YY, you would have to install using the xubuntu disc.
You could also remove all the gnome 2.X stuff from 10.04, and then install the xubuntu pacakges-
I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10 a couple of weeks ago. Would like to upgrade to 11.04 but am told by those who know that my PC is not equipped for Ubuntu 11.04. It was suggested I install Xubuntu 11.04 or Lubuntu 11.04? I burned both onto CD/RW disc's. Decided to install the Xubuntu one. I did something wrong or failed to do something you can take your pick in any case the installation to Xubuntu 11.04 did not take place. I checked again the Package Manager and now it does not show the Xubuntu 11.04 as being present? I may keep things as they are for the time being, either until I want to try installing either Xubuntu or Lubuntu in place of the Ubuntu I have now? Either that or until i happen to get a newer PC capable of handling Ubuntu 11.04 and above?
I want to thank everyone who has tried to help me, I apologize to those who gave me good advice which in some cases went in one ear and out the other with nothing in between to stopped it.
