Hello

I use Slack ware for few years, and now I tray kubuntu on my second laptop. Everything goes easy, but now I have problem with bt client. On Slack ware i use ctorrent which doesn't work on kubuntu. At least on my system, I get some c++ compiler error.

Which client do u use?

thanks Klemen

a C++ error? is that meant to help us solve the problem?? if it works on slack, i'd be pretty configdent it'd work on ubuntu too, if you gave us some useful information to help you on.

Well, it seems he's just asking about clients that others use, eh?

I just wont to have some torrent client working.

When i tray to configure ctorrent I get

klemen@ubuntu:~/torr/ctorrent$ ./configure
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... no
checking for mawk... mawk
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes

checking for xlC_r... no

checking for C++ compiler default output... configure: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables

So I'm interested how to fix ctorrent to work of get some other working bit torrent client.

thanks

You probably don't have any of the compliers installed. I suggest doing this:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

Then try again.

Cheers,
Mark

you can use the official bittorrent client:

example on getting hoary rc (do not dl it, it seems that hoary would release really soon):

btdownloadheadless.py --url http://releases.ubuntu.com/hoary/hoa...64.iso.torrent

or download the torrent file and use:
btdownloadheadless.py hoary-rc-install-amd64.iso.torrent

P.D. I also use slack, will change to ubuntu really soon
