Sound with Firefox

Hello

I'm currently running Ubuntu 7.04 and I've got a bit of an issue with my sound. I'm currently using for my sound a Lochitech headset. With the rest of my PC, sound works fine as long as I'm not on skype.

When it comes to Firefox, no sound will come through skype or no skype. Ubuntu sees the headset as default under the system > preferences > sound function. My boyfriend uses Fedora and is better at Linux than I am and he has no idea what to do.

Any advice would be grateful

Do you know if you are using oss or alsa ? Oss can only use one sound source at a time, alsa can use more than one. oss is the older sound system, alsa is the newer modern sound system. Can you use the headset with other applications ?
