shutdown command

unsure exactly why your system is doing this, or how to help you fix it... maybe search for how to modify the shutdown button?

but an alternative solution would be to run the shutdown command
Code:
# shutdown -h -P now
or create an alias that will remember your flags for the shutdown command
Code:
# echo "alias turnoff='shutdown -h -P now'" >> /home/.bashrc
then you can just run
Code:
# turnoff
from a terminal when you want to shutdown your system

It would also be pretty nice to know what system you are using.

From your statement "it never done it before it went LTS!" I suppose you are using 14.04.

However, the "went LTS" is confusing. How did it go LTS? Usually some intervention on the part of the user is required for a version upgrade if this is what you mean.

If you upgraded your system, what did you upgrade it from?

Once again assuming you upgraded, the reason you are going through all this is because YOU upgraded. There really is no reason for you to be asking for help while whining shrilly as if it is our fault that YOU modified YOUR system.

Did you prior to upgrading read the release notes provided by your Ubuntu distro. Particularly those relating to upgrading?

Did you have any 3rd party packages installed (not ones from the Ubuntu repos)?

Did you have any ppa's in your sources.list? Did you have any packages from ppa's installed on your system?

What hardware are you running on?

We are not mind readers. We are also not all Ubuntu users. We need coherent information on your problem and your system. Not hysterics.

I, by the way, prefer to simply use the command "halt" as root to shut down.

Thanks Widget; when i say LTS i meant Long Time Support i made an ISO after 17th april when Xubuntu 14.04 started to be official, before this i've run beta, I click on the power button in the corner and it gives me the option, Log out, restart, suspend,Shutdown but it only logs out,the first time when i log out and log in then i press shutdown and then it shuts off,
