setting up 6.06

Hi,

I love the automatix script and would like to continue to use it.

My problem is that when I install 6.06 it aoutmatically sets up for a 686 kernel image and enables the smp for the HT cpu. This is good but when I use the automatix script it switches the kernel image back to a 386 image.

This is not right, right? Or should I have downloaded the updates for 6.06 first instead of Automatix? Or should I not use auto to install the driver.

The reason I use it cause it sets up the nice settings manager gui, I have done this by hand before but it never quite works fully. The auto script makes it work wonderfully but forthe wrong kernel image.

I have even thought to recompile the kernel for this box after but then I have to install the driver. I have recompiled before sucessfully but not with a viable driver.

Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated.
