Of course you could abandon the whole GNOME (Mono-encumbered) experience and move to KDE 4. In my opinion, a much cleaner and easier-to-customize desktop. Or, if you really want "clean and easy," try the XFCE desktop. It's very efficient and much faster than either GNOME or KDE.

Yup that would be the one.

You might try purging the bugger after you report the bug and reinstall it. Might help, if it is a persistent bug it won't though.
