Theme not changing 4 me

Hi I get this error when I try and change the desktop Theme:

"The default theme schemas could not be found on. This means that you probably don't have metacity installed, or that your gconf is configured incorrectly."

I am an absolute beginner, I want to get all the environment bugs ironed out b4 I go into developing anything.

Cheers all!

That would means what it says . Metacity integrates with Gnome-2 so you've to install it.

Go into "system settings" >> "add/remove applications"...it should be metacity there somewhere I guess
