Public Key not Available

Hi guys!

I get the following error when running apt-get update:
Code:
W: GPG error: http://security.ubuntu.com hardy-security Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 40976EAF437D05B5
W: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 40976EAF437D05B5
W: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 40976EAF437D05B5
I've restored my repository to the original one. Like it is after installing and checked some of the default options in software sources.

When I had my wine repository in I got a similar error for that too.

From what I can see it seems like I'm not the only one having this problem. If that is the case I guess it is not user error?

Anyone else having this problem. Or better yet, know how to fix it?

Thanks.

Go to this link and cut and paste the pubkey into a file. http://pgp.nic.ad.jp/pks/lookup?op=g...976EAF437D05B5

gpg --import fileyoujustsaved

Then you will be ok

Thanks. I actually got it right in the mean time and forgot about posting here! I cleared my sources.list file and just went to Software Sources en rechecked all the repositories that was checked before. After that running apt-get update had no errors. But I'll come back here if it happens again and follow your advice.

Hi again. I'm back with the same problem. I've done what you said but it doesn't work for me. I've pin pointed the problem to the Hardy Recommended Updates. As soon as I check that I get this problem:

Code:
W: GPG error: http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <ftpmaster@ubuntu.com>
I also have problem with Wine. When I add the key and repository at stated on http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb this is what I get:

Code:
W: Failed to fetch http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/dists/hardy/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz Sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Any ideas?

Thanks.
