Perl has 95% CPU Usage?

Fresh install of Kubuntu 5.04 on Dell Latitude C600 laptop.

For some reason, 'top' shows perl CPU usage drifting between 85% and 95%, and the laptop is cooking.

Any ideas why perl has gone crazy and why perl is constantly being used in the first place?

As a side note, I was on Gentoo for about 9 months. I'm missing the simplicity and the speed. The speed didn't come so much from optimized binaries but from not having cruft load that didn't need to be. Who needs to be running Apache on a desktop system? Sorry.

Bad programmers like me make mistakes, the program may loop w/o doing anything productive. Just kill the process.

I should have thought of that. Oh well. I decided I didn't have enough control, so I am in the midst of reloading Gentoo.
