Need help with ftp server

Hey folks!
I have a friend that lives out of state, and we like to transfer music/photo albums. But doing it via email or chat takes too long!

I know absolutely nothing about setting up and using an ftp server, and was wondering if someone could guide me through it or provide a link to a very basic tutorial.

BTW.,Im running Feisty Fawn, and have already installed 'Proftpd' and 'gproftpd'.

well just look at the docs for proftpd and start configuring it. unlikely there's really that much to it. outside of that, there's just the probable need to port fotward on your router. actually though, i'd probably suggest not doing this at all, and just use sftp over your alreay correctly configured ssh server. just get them to use aclient like winscp, assuming they are using windows.
