Low Sound Volume Ubuntu 18.04

I continue to have extremely low sound volume (as compared to Windows on this dual boot laptop) in Ubuntu.

I have:

Run the Alsamixer and all settings are on maximum.

Pulse Audio installed

Reinstall ALSA and Pulse Audio

I've tried "over driving" the sound (greater than 100%)to no avail.

I'm using an HP Laptop bs1xx with 16 GB ram that is a dual boot to Windows and Ubuntu.

Initially I had problems in Ubuntu with Wifi and getting the Grub dual boot screen. Fixed now.

But sound continues to be a problem.

If you have not installed pavucontrol (the Pulse Audio mixer), do so. It provides more granular controlt than most volume control utilities. It's in the repos.
