KDE Desktop right click menu - how to choose the items?

I have Kububtu 20.04.
I installed the same on my father PC.

I wanted to add for him an icon with the link to the web page where he reads his email.

On MY PC it's easy as a piece of cake (right click/create/URL link)

On my father PC there is NOT in the right-click menu the item "create".
Actually, in his right click menu there are a lot of options missing.

It is possible that it was configured in this way by myself in order to avoid him deleting icons by mistake (you know, old people...), but I'll be damned if I remember how I did it! (LOL)

Anybody wants to help a stupid father-pc-installer like me?

Apart from the jokes, help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not running Kubuntu, but have you tried just dragging from Dolphin and dropping on the desktop?

This is a bit of a guess, too.
In your favorite file manager, copy and paste an existing *.desktop file, and edit to your needs, using kate or your favorite text editor...
Or create one similar to on your desktop.
Good luck!

Whoops, did miss that bit, make sure you create it in ~/Desktop

I'm assuming you want the link on the Desktop.

1. Copy the URL from your web browser.
2. Open the Desktop folder with your file manager. I use Dolphin.
3. Right Click in an open area and select "Create New"/"Link to location (URL)" or from the menu create a URL Link file.
4. In the form, paste the URL into the URL/link location field and give a file name like "Email" and click "OK"

This should create a desktop file named "Email" that when clicked will open your web browser at the email page URL.
