irda connection

I have got an Irda usb (Mobile Action Technology model:MA660) in order to connect my mobile phone (sony ericsson V600i) with my desktop (Ubuntu 6.10). I don't know how to make it work. I am newbie, please help me by giving me instructions step-by-step. Thanks...!

Hello fellow greek! I finished the installation of this dongle just yesterday! To install it you will need to do the following as root:

modprobe irtty-sir
modprobe ma600-sir
modprobe pl2303
/usr/sbin/irattach /dev/ttyUSB0 -s

You can skip the last step if there exists a /etc/rc.d/irda service, which will take care of it should you start it. The above will only work until you reboot, however as I'm not familiar with Ubuntu I can't help you there. Anyway, after you get the driver part right, you will need the programs to access the phone. This is the tricky part as most of the programs are text mode only and the graphical ones usually have many problems. If you use KDE, the easy way is to type
