Installing the nvidia driver off the web site and installing rpm in ubuntu?

I came from slackware and I have been jumpping from distro to distro. I just have a question how would I go about doing this. I'm downloading the iso and I'm about to install it. So I don't have a distro to play with.

RPM's won't work with Ubuntu. You will have to use something like Alien to convert an *.rpm to a *.deb (debian native). Installing nvidia drivers in Ubuntu is very easy as well. Check the sticky for the Ubuntu Guide in this forum. It has nearly all the answers you need.

*Sigh* Yes. It's called alien. apt-get install alien.
