installing forums on web site

I have slackware 9.1 and i'm trying to install phpbb on my apache server. Reading the install help, it says i need to make/build a database. I'm pretty sure i installed sql with slackware. Is there anything more i need to do?
Also, will i need to install php drivers (?) or anything related?

Thanks!!

Vincent

php drivers? what are those, little penguins running the show inside the box?

Yes, you need a install a database and set one up. Installing only doesn't do the job, it didn't know from you installing when installing slackware you wanted to install phpbb as well.. etc.

And yes, you need php installed as well.

The phpbb instructions are pretty straight forward though, read them inside and out, its quite easy to do.

PHP is quite flexible, but the binary distributions that come with Slackware do not always work.

You could compile from source, making sure you configure with-mysql or with-msql or with-oracle or with-pgsql depending on which database you want to use.
