installing java in ubuntu

Hey,

I am new to linux. I am trying to install java running time and java development toolkits with ubuntu system.

Each time i installed jre or jdk, it will go to a configuration document on the console and i dont know how to quit from that. So i could not keep on my working because what ever i am going to install will return error saying "unable to lock the administration directory"

Could anyone helps me out?

Try hitting the tab key or the spacebar to highlight yes to accept the license.
