I cannot open KDE


Hi all,

Yesterday I working with my laptot where is installed KUBUBTU 7.04. I open a document with openOffice, and the system crash.
I have rebooted the system and I arrive in the login windows. I do the login but the KDE don't start.
I take the login from Konsole and them type startx, but after some minutes an error occur:

warning: Type "ONE LEVEL" has 1 levels, but <RALT> has 2 symbol Ignoring extra symbols
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
(EE) xf86OpenSerial: cannot open device /dev/input/wacom No such file or directory
Error opening /dev/input/wacom: Invalid argoment
Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc removing from list
Could not init font path element /usr/share/fonts/X11/cyrillic removing from list
Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/tupe1 removing from list

xinit: connection to X server lost


I don't know what is this problem?

Anyone can help me?

(7.04 is a bit old now)

Press ESC at Grub prompt and select RECOVERY MODE

After you have signed in, issue the command:

dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
Answer the questions you can. If you can't then go with the given default answer.

Also, you might want to update/upgrade to a later version (you are 2 years behind, yeah, I know, it's still supported)... if so, type "sudo apt-get upgrade"

Yes I know, but the problem is that I work in a projet that war realized in 7.04. I have proved a most recent version but the simulator not run.

I have just make this procedure without results.

I prefere to know if there is a possibility to recovery the old version.


I think that is the font that make problem.

Anyone know how can I recovery the old setting of the font?
