How to compare all installed packages with the repos they came from

There may be corrupted files in my system, due to bit rot or whatever.

Without downloading all packages again but just using some sort of checksum, is it possible to check the CONTENTS of all files versus the repos they came from in ubuntu?

Hi:

You could run rkhunter to see if any files are corrupt.

Do you suspect deterioration in the performance and integrity of data stored on your storage media?

Was thinking of deterioration of integrity but now you have added the possibility of intruders too, hard as it is in linux.

The device in which you have all of those files on; how old is the HDD?

For Security measures (especially if your on a server in the enterprise) you could encrypt the drive, set up a BIOS password and set up a password for the bootloader as well.

***Make sure that you write down the encryption password.***
I've seen many people locked out of their Linux boxes because they forgot the encryption password.

Here's an article on bit rot detection.
