I assume you are on X86 and using the GRUB bootloader.

You need to learn GRUB. I assume Ubuntu is using Grub 1.9/2.0 now. FYI: much of the grub content on the web won't work for you because they are now auto-generating grub.cfg. The files used to generate grub.cfg are in /etc/grub.d/, or /etc/grub. Something like that anyway.

If you are talking about the splash image - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Gr...0and%20Theming

If you are talking about the logo which appears with plymouth, then install one of the plymouth-theme- packages and run this to change the theme used

Code:
sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth
