What programs are you specifically talking about? If it's on the same computer, and you have both KDE and GNOME desktops, then you can run any programs within each other.

What programs specifically? you can usually get the programs using the apt-get feature. You could just make your Kubuntu/ubuntu CD-rom one of the repositories in your /etc/apt/sources.list

As I understand it, most Kde apps won't run in Gnome and vice-versa.
You'd have to do an 'install-kde', with all the libraries for Kaffeine to work.

petern2 is correct, you will need to load some KDE dependent library files. This is just a shot, but pop in the CD and then try
Code:
sudo aptitude -s install kaffeine
It MAY download all the dependency and updates for you from the CD and/or the repository sites. If it shows that it's possible, then you are good to go! The -s option means to simulate an install. It won't actually install anything.
