Got it all working....now what?

I got my demon child Broadcom wifi card in my laptop working after HOURS of effort, and now Ubuntu is working fine. Now, I'm finding out about other neat distros besides this one, but it came on the CD enclosed with the Linux for Dummies book I got.

So many flavors.....Puppy, Debian, Mandriva, etc. etc. I am running a Gateway 4026GZ laptop with 1.2 GB RAM. The machine has a 1.3 GHz Celeron M processor with a 40 GB hard drive.

Frankly, even with the massive amount of RAM in that little laptop, I grew tired of waiting FOREVER for Windows XP to boot. My ONLY complaint is the apparent lack of image processing and telescope control software (please tell me otherwise) for those who also have astronomy for a hobby.

And, being a total geek that I am, of course I'm also a ham radio operator.....

I used this link after much searching, cursing, etc.

My daughter Sarah likes the games already!

You may be able to find software to control a telescope or log ham radio at one of several web sites. The two that I use are http://www.sourceforge.net and http://www.freshmeat.net .

I don't know if they cover your needs but you could try Celestia or Stellarium, they should be in the repositories.
