getting my NIC to work?

Hello all, I'm trying to get my onboard network interface to work in Kubuntu. It was not recognized automatically, so I had to add a pci NIC to get online to ask this question (that NIC was recognized).

I have an nforce4 motherboard, so I downloaded the nforce drivers from nvidia. I ran the installation routine, and it ran without errors, building the modules. The problem is that the follow-on instructions don't really apply to Kubuntu since the /etc file structure is different from anything listed in the instructions.

So where do I do my "alias eth0 nvnet" line? Or where do I read about doing that stuff? Or read about the "Kubuntu" way of fixing this problem?

Many thanks!

ok.. so I think I've got things working, though I'm not sure I know what it was exactly that did it.. I added the aliases listed in nvidia's documentation to the aliases files in the modutils directory and the modprobe.d directory.

Next I edited the /etc/network/interfaces file and changed the auto line to read:
auto lo eth0
and added an iface line:
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Seems to be working (since I'm using it to post this message)...

Kubuntu is still rather alien to me, and it's still a fight, but I'm making some progress. Wish I knew how to find useful documentation more easily...
