ftp to open and edit files in ftp user directory

I am given an assignment in my new job to optimize samba but found vsftpd much faster.

Samba is so slow on internet connection. I tested vsftpd and this is so fast but I have a couple of problems.

1. Can I edit vsftpd files by opening in windows file explorer and save it instead of copying it locally just like Samba.

2. Can acls be implemented on files?

Thanks & Regards
Waqas

1. no. You need a local copy, edit, save it and copy back to the original server
2. what kind of acls do you mean? You can check the possibilities of vsftpd, but I think it is not really what you are looking for.
3. you may try to speed up samba...

Well,

Do you know if WebDav can support these requirements.
ACL means I want to implement user read/write permissions on files basis instead of directories.
