Fax and Modem Problems!

I am running Ubuntu Dapper Drake and i bought the linuxant driver for my modem in my dell inspiron 6000 notebook. The modem now works great. I installed efax-gtk and i have the following problem. When i start the program for the first time everything is fine and it works great. If i exit the program and i try to connect to the net through gnome-ppp the modem is gone. Its not detected. If i start efax again i get that the modem is locked or busy and i can't use efax either. The only solution i found so far is to restart the computer. So i can only use my modem before i try to use efax. I can use efax once and then the modem is gone and i cant use gnome-ppp for dialup nor efax. Any ideas?

I'd try "gfax" perhaps being Gnome specific it will work better for you. If you go to Synaptic and search on "fax" you'll see a lot available.
