Why would you want to connect your fax machine to your modem? If you explain that first, then we coudl help you.

What exactly are you asking?
Most modems have a place to plug in an incoming line, and another one for an outgoing line. If you want to use your fax machine by itself, just plug it into the outgoing line's socket.

if you already have a phone plugged into it you may have a replicator port on the phone or fax machine as well.

I have never seen a modem without two ports except on a laptop, which you could still use a splitter.
