Erratic mouse!

Hi,

When I boot up, I can go into anything, the mouse will allow me to click wherever I like, but once I've opened a window, it will only allow me to click thetabs within that window. It won't let me close it, minimise etc.

And then the only application on the top bar thing I can open is the mailer (evolution). if I mouse over firefox, nothing, not even a mouseover change!

perssing ctrl+alt+f1 and then ctrl+alt+f7 (going into, then out of) command prompt resets it, just the same as before...allowed a few clicks then lockdown
