Question Erratic Mouse (sometimes) in Mandrake 10

Hell-o,

I just upgraded to Mandrake 10. Sometimes when I'm downloading something -- I don't always have to be -- my mouse becomes erratic, highlighting and clicking on it's own. Sometimes right clicking makes it stop, but not always.

I've tried selecting different mice in mousedrake, but nothing seems to work.

I have a PS/2 mouse. Here's the XFConfig86-4 bit about my mouse:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

It seems to happen more when I'm using Firefox (Mozilla standalone).

Any thoughts, help, condolences?

Blessed Be,

Jason Hodges

Yowdy,

I've been having the same problem with a MS Optical Wheel Mouse. What I did was in the BIOS disable USB mouse support and USB keyboard support. And now it works, which is really keen.

I hope this helps. I am, however using a different distro and window manager. I could suggest buying a different mouse if you have a MS Optical Wheel Mouse, because it appears lots of people have problems with them. I like the Basic Optical Mouse (also by MS).

I've also seen gpm be the problem in some threads, which you could look into maybe.
