So you now don't get any errors from the package management system anymore?

No, no more errors since that successful update and upgrade.

Installed the fglrx driver and found out that it is an old driver.
It works but it does not provide support for 3D acceleration that the owners card is capable of.
Upon installing the driver and a restarting the computer there was a icon on the DE that said "Unsupported Hardware" and that was undesired.

That graphic's card is the R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC : perfect for gaming.
http://us.msi.com/product/vga/R7850-...r-2GD5-OC.html

The owner wasn't happy with this Restricted driver and it's lack of support. He un-installed the fglrx driver that came from the Ubuntu repo that I had in the link above. The AMD Catalyst™ 13.12 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver is now installed. The Beta Driver is more current but he did not want a beta driver.

I fully explained that Elementary OS Luna has a big upgrade coming in April, 2014 and at that time the driver would have to be uninstall in order to upgrade the system. Otherwise I'm pretty sure a black screen will be what the owner boots to w/o uninstalling the driver and performing an upgrade.

Sounds like you are havin FUN anyway.

Definitely loose the driver before doing any sort of version upgrade.

Frankly I would be slightly nervous about it all the time. Seems like there are some strange things consequences from the required ppa for Elementary. Could be completely wrong. Hope I am. Admit that I am going on shaky hear/say and have not looked into the actual contents.

Should keep you from getting bored anyway.

A little nervous but even that is starting to loose it's power.
