Is the file gyach listed in the sources? Try 'apt-cache search gyach'. If it's listed it should install, if not listed maybe you need to add a source repository for it in the list file or install the source code for it.
OK, I see that it is not in there so, how does one go about adding the repository or install the source code for it, Remember I am a complete noob at this sort of thing, i am just learning it all. Even if you have a link to offer me , That will be more then fine with me, and ty for your reply, at least now I know why!
i see that one can not do it with apt-get, one has to d/l the file to say the home folder, right click, extrct here, then open a terminal x-window, cd to the /home/username/programname, then one can ./configure
make
make install
then the program works great, thank you all for your kindness and generousity in the replies.

also, how could i remedy this?? total noob here
Not sure if this hread is still open, or not. However, for those coming later, what this means is that you don't have the proper tools (c compiler) loaded. Although your stuff there did not show it, may also not have your headers installed for your kernel.
In short, you need compiler tools and kernel headers for many distros.
