Can't get a decent download of kubuntu 10.10

Hi,

I an setting up a kubuntu system for my parents and I downloaded and I went to the site and downloaded and burnt the ISO to a DVD and booted the computer from it. I chose to look at the distro first but every time I tried to boot it up the live CD hangs.

I tried to install via text mode and this went through okay and then I tried to boot up and the computer hung. I tried this several times and the same thing happened.

Is it a dodgy ISO or is there something else I should be concerned about?

Did you do a md5 checksum?
Does it work on another computer?
Is the hardware supported?

I did the md5 checksum (k3b does it automaticaly) and I tried it on a different machine and the same problem happened. My computer isn't that old, I am using an AMD athelon 4600 socket 939 which is around 4 years old.
