WLAN KInternet connection not working after YOU updates!

Hello

I had experieced this phenomena 3 times for the past 1 weeks. After each occurrence, I have to re-install Suse9.3 Pro all over again so sad

Ok here's the problem.

after I finished installing Suse9.3Pro & configuring the WLAN using ndiswrapper on my Inprocomm built-in wireless device in my laptop, I proceed to do YOU to get the latest update patches avaiable using YOU. After finished downloading all the patches & installation, I proceed to reboot the system.

After reboot, I wanted to proceed to setup my Kaffeine - to enable it to play DVDs. Imagine my surprised when the KInternet refused to "link" with the available wireless signals!

no matter what i do (even re-installing & re-configuring the WLAN!), the KInternet just refused to show the "connect" sign when i try to use the WLAN, however, when I switch to "modem", the connection sign appeared!

May I know what I should do if this thing happen again? I dont want to re-install suse9.3Pro. Overall suse9.3Pro is very user-friendly.

any advise and suggestions are highly appreciated.

thank you

Don't have an answer for you, but SuSE 9.3 Pro is the first distro I've used that included all the Mondo Rescue packages. If you haven't used it before, it works a lot like Norton Ghost. After I get my system stabilized with tweaks and fixes I like to image it onto RW discs. Only takes a 15 minute "nuke restore" afterwards to get my system back when things go awry.

I thought that Kinternet was used for internet connections, and there was another program w/ 9.3 that handled wireless network cards. Maybe you just missed a package you needed?

KInternet is indeed meant to check connection

Hi Dralnu

yes, KInternet is only meant for "Internet Connection". Hence, if one wish to connect to internet, one have to click on the KInternet and wait for the "connect" sign to appear. However, for my case, after breezing through the wireless setup with ndiswrapper (ver 1.1), I can get the initial "connect" sign, up to the point after complete updating of Suse 9.3Pro by YOU updates. After the YOU updates follow by system reboot (as advised by YOU - something to do with new "kernel" to take place), the whole KInternet for WLAN option just refused to have the "connect" sign! it's always the "thunder" sign! = trying to connect to the wireless card! Imagine my surprise turned frustration after waiting and waiting for minutes for the "connect" sign to appear!

To Crito, may i know where you get that "Mondo Rescue Package"? I also wish to burn an iso image of my system just before I do anymore YOU updates. very stressed after the 3 previous weird phenomenon on KInternet! will the "Nuke Restore" do a fine job in dual boot environment? Currently mine is Suse9.3 with WinXP Pro SP2 - still got to use WinXP cos most of my works are done in Windoze environment ...

thx for any suggestions or advises

have a great week!
