KInternet and connection sharing...
Hi,
I have a computing runing suse 9.1 and windows xp dual boot (COMP1) and another computer runing windows 98 (COMP2). Currently I have internet connection sharing set up on comp1/xp. I dial using a modem and comp2 can utilise the connection.
My aim is to set up the same sort of thing with SUSE 9.1, so that no matter what OS i am using on comp1, whether it be suse or windows xp, but if i connect to the internet on either of these operating systems comp2 should always be able to use the connection, without having to do anything tricky, or manually change settings accordingly.
At the moment a static IP of 192.168.0.1 is used on comp1 for suse and winxp. I am using KInternet on SUSE 9.1 to connect to the internet via dialup (56K) and I have obtained the following information from each time i connect.
___________________________________________________________
Default route ok.
Gateway Address: 203.220.79.11
Own Address: 203.221.29.208
Interface: ppp0
Name server ok
Name Server Address: 203.194.56.150

Anyhoo, I use the same ISP on both suse and winxp, but i don't know if xp routes the internet packets different or what goes on, and I want comp2 to be able to use the internet, no matter which os i dial from on comp1. Currently comp1 is just using the ICS provided by microsoft and comp2 doesn't have any dns or gateway info entered into it, because windows seems to do it all by itself. Why can't linux take some initiative and be useful?
I'm not sure how to properly set up the nameserver addresses and all that into comp2, which is running windows 98, so could someone please help me with this?
Thanks
